Inter crush Milan by five goals in the Serie A Derby
After a superb individual performance by Marcus Thuram, who blasted the ball from the right flank and sent a cross that reached Demarco, who fired a shot that Mkhitaryan followed into the net, Inter was able to take the lead five minutes into the game.
Inter won a corner kick in the eighth minute, and Demarco executed it directly towards the net from the right side, but goalkeeper Maignan deflected it for a new corner kick from the left.
Mkhitaryan almost added the second goal for himself and his team after Lautaro’s ball to Demarco on the left side, and the latter passed a cross into the area, which Miki, completely unmarked, met with a header that passed near the left post, wasting the opportunity for a certain goal.
In the 23rd minute, Soumer was able to stifle Leao’s effort to receive Theo Hernandez’s long pass between his feet because Leao was unable to catch it deep in the defense.
Milan won a free kick from outside the area in the 30th minute. Theo executed it in a deceptive way after passing the ball to Leao on the left side inside the area. Rafa met it with a direct shot into the goal, but Soumer saved it with a shot in which the referee indicated that the Portuguese was offside.
When Theo set up the ball with Giroud’s heel seconds later, he blew the most important opportunity of the game. After receiving it, the French full-back dashed into the area to shoot a ground ball that went just inside the left post.
The brilliant Marcus Thuram succeeded in doubling the score in the 38th minute with a wonderful goal after a quick counterattack that reached Dumfries. He passed a cross that Thuram took possession of on the far left and penetrated into the area, where he fired a shot at a difficult angle at goalkeeper Maignan.
After intercepting a cross pass from DeMarco with a touch and a shot that was incredibly weak and easily deflected into Maignan’s hands in the 51st minute, Thuram lost a simple chance. In the 57th minute, Leao was able to lower the score thanks to a superb ball from Giroud behind Darmian. When Leao gained control of it, she sent the ball through Sumir’s protection and into the goal.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi made a triple substitution in the 64th minute, bringing on Frazzi, Augusto, and Arnautovic instead of Barella, Demarco, and Thuram. From Arnautovic’s first touch, he set the ball up for his teammate, Augusto, who fired a missile shot from in front of the area, in which Maignan excelled and pushed it away from his goal, depriving Inter of a third goal.
After a superb ball from Kalhangulu from the far right to the left for Lautaro, who then delivered a cross to Mickey and unleashed a strong shot that hit the foot of defender Thiaw and found the back of the net in the 69th minute, Mkhitaryan scored his second and third goals for his club.
Pioli, Milan’s coach, made several substitutions in the 77th minute, looking to reduce the gap, so he brought on Piovic, Okafor, and Florenzi instead of Giroud, Calabria, and Rejnders.
Theo Hernandez fouled Lautaro, who was awarded a penalty kick; Calhangulo stepped forward to take the ball and succeeded in scoring Inter’s fourth goal in the 79th minute. After a counterattack from Mkhitaryan and a magic pass from the Armenian, who passed the ball to a plate of gold deep in the defense, and Frazzi touched it with a shot into the net, the game ended with a resounding victory for Inter (5-1).
