Napoli victory over Braga 2-1
In a dramatic development, Napoli’s victory came in the 88th minute, just moments after Braga equalized. It was Sporting defender Sekou Nyakatti who would experience a mixture of emotions.
Unfortunately for Nyakati, his name is etched into the story of the match for an unexpected reason. Piotr Zielinski sent a precise pass from close range, and with his first touch, Nyakaty inadvertently put the ball into his own net.
There was a stunned silence in the electrifying Stadio Municipal de Braga as Napoli celebrated their late victory. Nyakati’s fate was harsh, but he sealed the victory for the guests.
In the other Group C match on the same day, Real Madrid achieved a 1-0 win over Union Berlin with a late goal by Jude Bellingham.
